Our Rector

The Rev’d Robert T. Davis has been Rector of St. Luke’s since April 5, 2003. He was ordained to the Sacred Priesthood by the Rt. Rev’d James Eugene Provence. Father Davis was previously ordained to the Diaconate by the Most Rev’d Robert Sherwood Morse at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Oakland and previously served as a Deacon at St. Luke’s beginning on February 2, 2003.

Father Davis has studied theology at Oxford University (under the likes of J. I. Packer, Alister McGrath, Valentine Cunningham and Peter Walker) and at Regent College, Vancouver, BC, in addition to St. Joseph of Arimathea

Anglican Theological College in Berkeley, California, where he trained for the priesthood.

Whilst in training, he was a founding member of St. Joseph’s Compline Choir.  Father Davis has participated in conferences in Great Britain and Canada on Biblical Leadership, Creation & New Creation and World Anglicanism led by authors/ scholars such as Eugene Peterson, Sister Benedicta Ward and N. T. Wright.  He is a member of the Fellowship of St. Alban & St. Sergius

His writings on music & culture have appeared in a number of major Internet portals and in the Houston Chronicle.  More recently, he has signed on as a Religion columnist for Redding’s Record-Searchlight where he will write on spiritual matters.

Born and raised in Texas, Father Davis, his wife Cynthia and children Geoffrey & Genevieve (fraternal twins) moved here from the Boise, Idaho, area.  Their interests beyond church

life lie primarily in music & the arts, reading (non-fiction and the slightest bit of poetry for Father; fiction for Cynthia), walking, travel and the family’s Springer Spaniel/ Border Collie mix, Abbey.
